A Teddy bear’s hospital is just one of the attractions at a Calne fun day held today to raise children’s awareness of the emergency services.
The free event, from 10.30am-1.30pm, is being held by staff at the Barnardo’s Sure Start Children’s Centre in Prince Charles Drive.
They plan to book a fire engine, police car and a community responder for the day.
Barnardo’s team manager Georgina Knappe said: “The aim of the event is to encourage under-fives to feel comfortable with the emergency services, but older brothers and sisters are welcome.”
Children can give their teddy a health check or take part in craft activities.
Families must be registered with the centre to attend but they can register on the day. The centre serves Calne, Cherhill, Derry Hill, Goatacre, Heddington, Hilmarton, Quemerford and Yatesbury.
