The first part of Corsham’s new multi-million pound Community Campus is now open for business.
An all-weather pitch was opened on Friday, with Corsham School students being the first to use it in a game of hockey.
It is now available for regular use by the school, and the wider community.
Headteacher Martin Williams said: “The pitch is a first class facility.
“The campus, apart from being cost-effective in its delivery of local services, will be a tremendous asset for community cohesion and will become an increasingly busy hub of Corsham life.”
Allan Bosley, chairman of Corsham Campus Shadow Community Operations Board, said: “The pitch is the first evidence of a programme that started three years ago with consultation, and that will deliver community inspired ambition.
“Our task now is to make sure the inspiration is delivered in everything else being developed at Springfield.”
As the campus construction continues, the pitch will be available at half price.
