Alan Butler has always been a runner, but earlier this year he decided to use his talents for a good cause.

The 42-year-old from Royal Wootton Bassett has taken part in numerous marathons and other personal challenges to raise money for national epilepsy charity Fable.

So far, he has raised £2,450 and throughout the month of November he has been running 10 miles every day to raise further funds.

Mr Butler, whose 21-year-old daughter Vikki has epilepsy, said: “That was one of the reasons why I chose Fable. She’s had it since she was about nine. This makes it kind of personal and close to my heart.”

He chose Fable after seeing what his daughter went through and wanted to do something to help other people with the condition.

He said: “Vikki is on medication and it controls it but it’s not nice to see and I feel sorry she has to go through it. It’s hard. Fable helps improve the lives of people with epilepsy and helps to raise awareness of it.”

Already this year Mr Butler has taken part in the Gurkha Half Marathon in Salisbury, the Swindon Half Marathon and the London Mud Run Back To The Trenches. He is planning to take part in a muddy assault course called the Seven Sins Challenge in Gloucester in December.

He took part in some of the challenges wearing only his speedos, helping to rack up sponsorship money and hopes to raise £3,000 by the end of the year.
