Cancer survivor Val Simpson from Kington St Michael, is holding a Venetian charity ball at the Bath Assembly Rooms in aid of two hospitals who helped her through her treatment.
Mrs Simpson, 52, pictured, was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine check-up in April 2011 and received care from staff at Bath RUH and the Bristol Oncology Centre.
After her recovery she threw herself into fundraising and has chosen to support The Forever Friends RUH cancer care campaign and The Friends of Bristol Hematology and Oncology Centre’s campaign for a radiotherapy machine.
The ball will be on February 1 next year with a drinks reception and a three-course dinner with live music.
Mrs Simpson said: “I would not be here without the wonderful care received from both of these cancer units.
“My oncologists and all the staff in both Bath and Bristol during these stays in hospital were wonderful.
“They kept me laughing and smiling.”
Tickets for the ball are £79 each and Mrs Simpson is still looking for raffle and auction donations.
