Five members of a Pewsey family will be treading the boards this weekend for an original, non-musical, adaptation of Les Miserables.
Chris and Jill Smith, and their children Miranda, Eleanor and Daniel Smith, of Frensham Way, star in Pew-sey Vale Amateur Dramatics Society’s (PVADS) adaptation of Hugo Victor’s novel.
Mr Smith, who plays Javert, said: “Early on we spoke of nothing else at home. It’s going to be very special.”
The script was written in two weeks by director Nettie Powell who has previously written award-winning plays for Pewsey Youth Theatre.
She said: “There’s no stage adaptation. I think people have done it, but there isn’t a published script which is why I ended up writing it.”
Les Mis has a cast of 39 – the biggest a PVADS play has ever had – and includes members from theatre groups from Salisbury and Devizes.
It will be performed at the Bouverie Hall tomorrow, Saturday and on Friday and Saturday, November 1 and 2, at 7.30pm. For tickets, visit www.pvads.net/home/buy_tickets or call 07977 561958.
