People are being encouraged to join a 100-mile walk around eight White Horses in Wiltshire as part of an Arts Council-funded project.

Walking Wiltshire’s White Horses involved members of the public working with artists Ali Pretty and Richard White.

Banners and silk flags have been made and they will be presented at each of the White Horses on a five-day walk, starting today from Westbury to Devizes. The final day, Monday, will end in Devizes Market Place during the International Street Festival.

There are several large banners on display in Wiltshire Museum, Devizes, until August 31. Entry is free David Dawson, director of Wiltshire Museum, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the project, especially the 40ft banner that goes over three floors. It shows off the scale of the building. We will keep that banner as a legacy.”
