Sccooter enthusiasts from all over Wiltshire converged on Ramp Nation in Devizes on Tuesday to see the world champion Dakota Schuetz show his skills.

Mr Schuetz, 17, from Los Angeles, California, is in Britain for a tour of demonstrations and exhibitions, and Ramp Nation, the indoor skate park opened by Lucy and Keith Wain last October, had the honour of being the first venue, organised through Chippenham-based Krazy Scooters.

Mrs Wain said: “He was here with his brother Hunter and their dad and they were just brilliant. Dakota is very talented and they spent two hours here, talking with the kids, signing helmets and other kit and showing them how it’s done.”

The comments from the youngsters who came along included “awesome”, “a really friendly chap” and “really cool”.
Following the appearance in Devizes, Mr Schuetz and his entourage headed for Hyde Park in London.

Mr Schuetz has been a keen scooter rider since he first climbed on one at the age of ten. Within six months he was competing and winning. He dedicates five hours a day to training and he is the first competitor to win all major international competitions. He is currently undefeated and ranked number one in the world.
