The parents of autistic teenager Jordan Williams are calling on people to donate unwanted phones to raise funds for an iPad to help him in school.
The 14-year-old, who goes to St John’s in Marlborough, finds it difficult to socialise, struggles to communicate, and has a delayed reading and spelling age.
To improve his learning he has taken up a challenge, run by autism charity Hearts and Minds, to collect as many mobile phones as possible.
Once he has collected at least 165 phones, he can exchange them with the charity for an iPad.
His dad Carl, 40, of Five Stiles Road, Marlborough, said: “The Hearts & Minds iPad scheme is amazing, because it will enable Jordan to improve his reading and writing.”
Jordan has the reading and spelling age of an eight or nine-year-old.
Mr Williams said: “I’d like to encourage anyone who may have old or unwanted mobiles lying around at home to get in contact and help transform our son’s life.”
