Devizes baby show organiser Jeanette Von Berg is encouraging parents to support the event.
Miss Von Berg was stunned when Devizes Outdoor Celebratory Arts (DOCA) told her that the baby show would no longer be a part of Devizes Carnival, but Devizes mayor Pete Smith has stepped in and the show has been renamed Devizes Mayor’s Baby Show.
It will be on Tuesday, August 27 – during carnival fortnight – at the town hall.
DOCA chairman James Matcham said in a letter to Miss Von Berg earlier this year that the baby show was “no longer an appropriate item for inclusion in our carnival programme” and did “not fit with the ethos of the current contemporary programme”.
The event is sponsored by Nursery Thyme and entry forms are available from Rowlands Chemist in Little Brittox and Nursery Thyme at The Wharf and people can enter on the day. Entry is £2.
Miss Von Berg said mums were glad the baby show was continuing.
