Two men in their 30s are being sought following a burglary in Highgrove Close, Calne, at lunchtime today.

Police believe the men forced their way into a studio flat at 12.05pm and stole several watches, including a Rolex watch, and tobacco belonging to the 70-year-old occupant.

The elderly occupant, who returned shortly after the break-in, was alerted by a passerby who saw the two men enter the property.

Three police officers and two PSCOs arrived at the scene to check the area. They also checked several neighbouring bus stops to see if they could find the suspects.

The first man was wearing a brown cap and is described as slim with light brown hair. The second man had dark hair, was short in stature, had tanned skin and was carrying a rucksack.

They were last seen heading along Prince Charles Drive, past Priestly School, with a white woman in her 40s.

PC Hans Monahan said: “Day time burglaries of this nature are quite rare fortunately. If anybody can offer any information in relation to the burglary or the distribution of these stolen items please ring 101.”
