Alexandra Dariescu is the latest up-and-coming classical musician to cut their teeth at Devizes Festival.

Pianist Miss Dariescu, who last visited Devizes in 2009, will return to give a recital at the town hall on June 18, just two weeks after her Royal Albert Hall debut, playing Beethoven’s Emper-or Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Beethoven also features in her programme at the town hall, but this time his wonderful Sonata no 2, along with pieces by Scarlatti, Schumann and Chopin.

A mixture of comedy and classical music greets the audience for Graffiti Classics at the town hall on June 9 when the quirky quartet get up to all sorts of high jinks with well-known and not so familiar pieces.

Anya Birchall and Kokila Gillett, together known as Fiddlesticks, deliver the lunchtime concert at St Andrew’s Church on June 11 at 1pm. They will also be taking part in community events at Southfield care home in Victoria Road and Rowdeford School.

The Fournier Piano Trio – Sulki Yu, Pei-Jee Ng and Chiao-Ying Chang – visit the town hall on June 14 with a programme of Haydn, Beet-hoven and Mendelssohn.

And the Paragon Singers are on stage at St John’s Church on June 17 with a programme of renaissance, baroque and contemporary music.
