THE Salvation Army is showing elderly people how to go online with free computer and internet workshops.
They are run by four volunteers at the Foghamshire building, Chippenham, on Fridays from 10am-11.30am.
Volunteer Jon Taylor said they were mostly attended by people aged over 65 who had never used a computer before and were amazed to discover the benefits of the internet.
Joan Savage, 75, of Ladyfield Road, attended a drop-in centre last week. She said: “My grandsons are eight and 12 and they can do everything on the computer, but I’ve never used one.
“I need to move house so I’m using the internet to set up appointments for viewings, rather than running around in the cold.”
The Salvation Army also runs its Cameo club – Come And Meet Each Other – for older people on Wednesdays from 10.30am-noon.
