Traffic in Devizes was brought to a standstill in Devizes during Wednesday evening's rush hour after a woman suffered an injury aboard a bus.
Paramedics were called to the bus near Brewery Corner shortly after 5pm on Wednesday after the woman in her 40s fell heavily on board and suffered undisclosed though not life threatening injuries.
The bus was held up while the woman was assessed and treated, holding up traffic along Northgate Street and Bath Road for nearly an hour. She was taken by road ambulance to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Motorists were reporting that it took them 30 minutes to get through the town centre.
A recent Devizes Transport Strategy report drew attention to traffic congestion in the town which is creating air pollution so bad that the air quality contravenes European Union guidelines.
