This was a charming piece of theatre for children – of all ages.
PuppetCraft adapted Helen Ward’s story into a visual performance very successfully.
An old man, living in a junk yard dreams of living plants and animals on his doorstep.
Meanwhile he creates a forest and the creatures to live in it from the junk around him.
He creates tin trees, exotic mechanical birds and dancing monkeys.
Eventually nature takes over and real wildlife takes over his junk yard and turns it green.
The mechanics are ingenius and the puppeteers, although clearly visible, created an illusion which delighted the audience.
