SEEING this only two days before the General Election, it was at first hard to remember that there was a time when a Labour victory at the polls seemed unachievable.
David Hare wrote this political drama, part comedy part serious play, before New Labour was invented, which makes some of its lines seem almost prophetic. It was received, the programme tells us, with fury in some sections of the then Labour party, who objected to what they saw as a portrayal of their latest failure.
