John (Jock) Cormack and Bryony McGinty, better known as Bradford-on-Avon-based folk duo Twice the Speed of Sound, are aiming to repeat the huge success of their January 2007 charity concert when they play at The Merlin Theatre, Frome, again on October 30.

They explained: “The charities this time are Parkinson's UK, Diabetes UK and the wonderful Winsley-based Dorothy House Hospice.

“We are organising this concert as a memorial to two very dear friends, Ian and Ev Lammin, who both died earlier this year leaving a huge hole in our lives.

“Ev used the services of Dorothy House and died very peacefully there.

“Ian was diabetic for many years and finally succumbed to the long-term effects of the disease shortly after the death of his wife.

“Jock Cormack has Parkinson's but intends to keep on being a nuisance for a good while yet!

“Mick Ryan is on the bill as in 2007, this time accompanied by Paul Downes.

“We are really chuffed to have Reg Meuross as well as Cornish trio Thorn and Roses, while local performers include Chico Holton, The Kitchen Sink Band and Stamp Unplugged.

To make room for the extended line-up, the concert will start at of 7pm and continue until 11pm. Tickets are available from the box office on (01373) 465949.
