FOR my first venture into the town of Bradford on Avon I decided to pop into the Dandy Lion pub in Market Street.
After looking at the menu online, I decided that it would definitely be worth the visit.
I found myself a table in a room just off of the bar. it was the only table left, so I sat myself down and perused the menu.
It was a difficult choice but eventually I opted for a starter of beer battered tiger prawns with homemade sweet chilli jam (£6.75) and a sirloin steak with mushrooms, tomato and chips (£17.50).
For my drink I chose a double vodka and coke (£6.80) and decided that would be the only thing I would need.
As I paid before the meal arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was two for one on courses, meaning I was getting my starter for free. I really couldn’t complain about that.
When my starter arrived, after a short wait, I was very pleased with the presentation and the promptness of the service.
The prawns were delightful, the batter was light and crispy and the homemade jam was packed with flavour.
It was the perfect size considering what was about to come next.
After one of the friendly waitresses checked to see how everything was, it wasn’t long until my main arrived.
The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection, the people on the table next to me ordered the same and I think it would be safe to say everyone was happy.
As I worked my way through my main course, honestly struggling a bit, the gentleman on the table next to me offered me one of the many onion rings they had been provided with. Well, it would’ve been rude to say no.
Everything on my plate was devoured, without one problem or concern. I would definitely visit the cosy watering hole again.
My meal came to £24.40.
