THIS year’s Pewsey Carnival has been cancelled due to the “dramatic rise” in coronavirus cases.
In a post on social media, Pewsey Carnival said that the combination of rising case rates, and growing infection rates among young people, meant that the event would be cancelled for the second year running.
The post said: “We are currently investigating the possibility of running modified or new events in a safe manner and further information will be released when known.
“This has been a difficult and deeply sad decision to make but we are confident that you will understand the necessity of safeguarding our families, our friends and our guests from unnecessary risk.”
The carnival is Wiltshire's oldest and dates back to 1898.
