Schools, businesses and community groups across Wiltshire are being asked to pull on their denim to raise money for people living with dementia next month.

The popular fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Support was on hold last year but the charity is hoping the return to schools and offices will be the perfect excuse for a Denim4Dementia mufti day.

Fundraiser Rachel Fear said: “Asking everyone to wear denim for the day a fun way to team-build after months of working from home. All you have to do to take part is pick a day that suits you and tell your workmates or friends to turn up on that day wearing denim – as much as they like and as unusual as they like. Everyone makes a small donation to Alzheimer’s Support and that’s all there is to it!

“In past years we have been amazed by the ideas, with blue-iced cakes, people holding a denim-themed tea parties in their communities and even dressing their dogs in a blue bandanas.

“After the 18 months we’ve all lived through, it is a great way to come together and raise money for a great local cause at the same time.”

Children at Holbrook Primary School will be among the first to take part next month.

Teacher Gemma Bradshaw said: “The pupils and staff of Holbrook love donning their ‘Denim for Dementia’. It is a brilliant opportunity to show our support for a wonderful charity that makes such a difference to those living with dementia and their families.”
