ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTION 14(1)(a) AND MOTORWAYS TRAFFIC (ENGLAND AND WALES) REGULATIONS 1982 THE M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 16) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) has made an Order on the M4 motorway at Junction 16 in the County of Wiltshire to enable alterations to the roundabout and widening of the slip roads including relocating embankments, traffic signals, lighting works, upgrading of vehicle restraint system, traffic signs, drainage works, realignment of utilities, resurfacing, white lining and studding to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place on or after 24 March 2018 and be completed by 29 June 2019

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTION 14(1)(a) AND MOTORWAYS TRAFFIC (ENGLAND AND WALES) REGULATIONS 1982 THE M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 16) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (a) has made an Order on the M4 motorway at Junction 16 in the County of Wiltshire to enable alterations to the roundabout and widening of the slip roads including relocating embankments, traffic signals, lighting works, upgrading of vehicle restraint system, traffic signs, drainage works, realignment of utilities, resurfacing, white lining and studding to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to take place on or after 24 March 2018 and be completed by 29 June 2019. The effect of the Order is:
(a) to impose a temporary mandatory 50 miles per hour speed limit on the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M4 between a point 1500 metres east of Junction 16 and a point 1500 metres west of Junction 16;


(b) to impose a temporary mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on the eastbound and westbound entry and exit slip roads at M4 Junction 16;


(c) to restrict vehicles over 2.5 metres in width to the nearside lanes of the M4 over the same length as described at (a) above


(d) to prohibit vehicles over 3 metres in width from the slip roads described at (b) above;


(e) to authorise the overnight closure (20.00 - 06.00) of the slip roads described at (b) above.


There will also be hard shoulder running and
lane closures through the works.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency
service or special forces vehicles.
During the closures traffic will be diverted via
Junctions of the M4 and local roads.
The diversions above will apply to vehicles
over 3 metres in width at all times.
The temporary mandatory speed limits, slip
road closures, lane closures, hard shoulder
running and diversion routes will be clearly
indicated by traffic signs throughout the
works period and will only apply when traffic
management measures are in place.
The Order came into force on 24 March 2018 and
has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
