Amongst the coffee business, Cafe Nero probably serves the least nasty brew and we are lucky, in Marlborough, to have a number of small independent coffee shops where the ambiance, the service and the product are demonstrably superior to what is offered by the real giants.
Of all the buying opportunities absent from Marlborough High Street, coffee is not one and it is hard to understand the attraction of an additional cafe with a capacity of 60. It is unlikely to attract new business but will merely help to re-distribute the existing market. If those responsible for planning decisions cannot see this then perhaps the public can make the point by voting for the independents.
