It is reassuring to read Mr Fogg’s figures (letters, January 19) relating to the usage of Marlborough Town Hall in 2010 and I congratulate him and other councillors for their activity and drive. We are proud of our town hall and happy to see that it is thriving and already providing an excellent public service. However, I think it is now of utmost importance that any modifications and improvements should only go ahead after a detailed feasibility study (including full analysis of revenues and expenditure) has been completed for any new phase of activity to the building.
The proposed spending plans in excess of £1 million would now appear even more of an unnecessary expense which risks creating an unpredictable burden for generations to come.
Diana Cooper, St Martins, Marlborough.
