Like many residents of Victoria Road I was pleased when Wiltshire Council announced we would soon be able to recycle cardboard and plastic.
Imagine my horror when I returned home to find a full-sized wheelie bin outside every house in the road, each clearly marked ‘plastic and cardboard only’.
These unsightly monsters are much too big for a fortnight’s recycling, and there is simply no room to accommodate it anywhere, inside or outside these small Victorian terraced houses.
Who was the genius who decided that these were the appropriate containers? This is a conservation area, where the appearance of the street is of concern to us all. Forcing the residents to find room for a second wheelie bin is unreasonable and unacceptable.
Declan McSweeney, Victoria Road, Devizes.
