WE moved into Kingfisher Court in April 2016, and were surprised to find that there were no litter bins and no dog waste bins on the whole estate of approximately 200 houses.
We have since realised that we don’t get a litter picker or a street cleaning lorry at all.
I have rung Calne Town Council, spoken to Mayor Tony Trotman and Coun Tom Rounds. Apparently we don’t come under their jurisdiction.
I then rang Wiltshire Council who tell me that they don’t put litter bins on new estates, nor dog waste bins and they don’t renew broken ones. If we want a litter picker we have to ring them and they will send out a gang from Chippenham, which they did, but I have to ring every time the litter builds up.
According to Coun Rounds, we are expected to keep our own estate tidy, which I don’t mind doing if I am not expected to pay £1,400 a year in council tax.
Would it not be possible to insist the developers supply litter bins and dog waste bins when building new estates?
I wonder who will tell the home owners on all the new estates in Calne, that they will be expected to pay full council tax but not receive the same services as the rest of Calne. I have since spoken to Coun Fisher, who is going to investigate the possibility of dog waste bins and litter collection.
