IT appears to be one rule for Trowbridge and another for other towns in the county. It seems unfair for Wiltshire Council to enforce higher charges to other towns, when Trowbridge has a free multi-storey car park and much cheaper parking elsewhere in the town. Regardless of status of ownership of car parks in Trowbridge, it has the advantage of attracting shoppers.
Wiltshire Council also needs to replace its parking machines, especially in Devizes. They are consistently out of order, forcing you to waste time going to another machine, to possibly find that one out of order as well. Also, whoever designed these machines obviously never had to use one, especially if wearing gloves, holding purses, walking sticks etc. They also do not give change, making the parking charge even higher if you don’t have the correct amount.
