SO, Steve Pascall finds it very disturbing to read adverse comments about the NHS (Gazette, May 18). Well, people wouldn’t write these comments for fun. He should think himself lucky that he and his wife have both had operations that seem to have gone well. But there must be many people who are going through hell at present wondering how well some awful treatment is working.
Also there are people, like myself, who need an operation, but have other conditions which may make one risky. And what about the much more serious cases where people have been told their situation is terminal?
It’s all very well to write letters in praise of the NHS, but it must seem a little smug when the very sick people read them.
