I FOUND Mr G White’s article Where are the cloggies? most amusing.
One does not see people in our country wearing clogs, unlike Holland, where it is not an unusual sight.
It brought back memories of a work colleague of mine who worked like myself as a telephone engineer. I was working outside as a cable jointer but my friend and colleague worked in the telephone exchange wearing none other than clogs. He seemed quite at ease in the clogs, much to the surprise of other engineers in the exchange.
I would often have banter with him on wearing the clogs but he found them so comfortable and easy to work with that shoes went out of the window.
On social trips with him it was clogs and not shoes. I never come across anybody that quite matched my mate.
