Pay your own costs
ONE unintended victim from the resignation last week of Devizes Guardian Naomi Smith is likely to be the Devizes council taxpayer.
There is a very strong possibility that the taxpayer, through no fault of their own, will have to foot the bill for any forthcoming by-election caused by the Guardians’ inability to carry out due diligence regarding the selection of its candidates.
I hope they do the honourable thing and pay for any costs from their own political funds so the taxpayer is not financially disadvantaged due to their error.
