THE letter from Tony Molland (Gazette & Herald, July 14) sets out in detail the excellent performance by the FTSE 100 in what appears to support his discussion in “Clear Brexit Benefits”.
In my view the performance of the FTSE 100 is not a good guide at all in this context as the majority of companies listed are global players and relatively unaffected by individual countries in which they do business.
Should Mr Molland undertake a similar detailed analysis on the performance of FTSE 250 listing which comprises mainly UK-based companies, his conclusions may be very different indeed as this listing has not done as well since the referendum results were announced.
