WITH reference to the article in your June 23 issue on the layby on the A350 near Kington Langley I dispute quite categorically the statement made by the Wiltshire Council spokesperson.

It is an outright lie to state that the council is increasing its litter collection from three to four times a week. It doesn’t and never has collected the rubbish three times a week. I use the lay-by for access to part of our farm two to three times a day most days of the week (at least six days a week) and see exactly when and what is collected.

And don’t bother Mr or Mrs Spokesperson to dispute this, modern digital cameras and phones record both the image and date and time of day, and I could probably fill an entire page of this publication with pictures taken in the last three weeks.

Since your article and photograph was published the bins have been emptied (or I should say partly emptied, they don’t fully empty them but leave them one third full) just once in 14 days. This may be adequate for a domestic household but when you consider there are often up to ten lorries parked there overnight, you don’t need to be much of an intellectual to see that two domestic bins emptied once a fortnight are totally insufficient.
