Somme marked
THE Chippenham branch of the Royal British Legion is holding two events to commemorate the Battle of the Somme.
On Friday, July 1, there will be a short vigil at Chippenham War Memorial in the Market Place at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
On Sunday, July 3, there will be a short service of commemoration led by the Rev Rod Key.
The service will start at 4.30pm and, again, all are welcome to attend.
There were several men from Chippenham and surrounding villages who were killed in this battle.
