IN THE last two to three years the Grist recycling yard on the edge of Devizes has become an eyesore. I have contacted my local councillor who just keeps supplying me with who I should complain to, rather than taking up the cudgel.

The smell is rancid on many days and as the summer approaches the smell will get worse. The seagulls have multiplied over the winter and the bird of prey that was supposed to reduce the numbers needs to be retired.

The noise these birds make is terrible, if you go to the site during the evening at around 5 to 6 at night you will see what I mean, the droppings from these seagulls are like projectiles that decimate your car and garden. The litter that comes from this site has spread all over the adjoining fields and just adds to the unholy mess that is recycling at this site. Visually the site puts a severe blot on the beautiful countryside which is Wiltshire.

If anyone feels the same as me please ring the Environment Agency on Freephone number 0800 807 060 and complain otherwise this yard will continue to make Devizes look and smell like a refuse dump.
