CHIPPENHAM is a lovely town in danger of being ruined by the amount of rubbish and dog mess which blights the streets.
I have complained many times but nothing is ever done!
However, I have just had my faith in human nature restored as I came across a lady from E Wootten, the funeral directors, washing the porch and pavement in front of the premises.
It was also very interesting to hear she was brought up in Belgium, where everyone washes their frontages every morning, as do many European countries. Why can’t we do that here, as not only would it save money, but the streets would be clean and some pride in our town restored?
We really do not want to hear people say: “but it’s not in my remit,” do we?
