I WOULD like to thank you for your report last week highlighting the plight of Tytherton Village Hall. The publicity is most welcome. However, I should clarify one point.
The current owner of the hall land is William Bailey and his uncle’s trust. William is a lifelong resident and the great grandson of Mr James Bailey who donated the original lease back in 1923.
He has been, and remains, a staunch supporter of the village hall. He was even serving drinks for us there on Friday. He very much regrets that for good reasons beyond his control he’s unable to offer a new long-term lease.
Hopefully the extra publicity you have given will help us secure a new site and funding for a replacement hall to perpetuate this fantastic focal-point for the local community.
