AS David Cameron discovered last week, what people do not say is sometimes much more important than what they do.
The same is true of the first paragraph of James Gray’s latest weekly column where he largely blames the EU for not putting high import tariffs on Chinese steel (they are afraid to stand up to China, he said) as part of the reason for the demise of the Port Talbot steel works.
What he did not say of course was that the British Government voted against increasing tariffs on Chinese steel. A cynic might say that Chinese investment for Hinkley Point is of much greater importance to our Government than the industry and jobs at Port Talbot.
