CONGRATULATIONS Lorraine Hatt (letters, January 28). A wake up call for Corsham. Wakey wakey, rise and shine! Come on residents of Corsham and surrounding areas, fight the good fight. Stop and make known how angry you are with our local councillors for stopping the funding for the number 10 bus.

These councillors are determined to stop funding the service. What a load of artful dodgers they are, they will do absolutely nothing to help and support the local residents. Also the Hopper is being taken out of service in May this year – how ridiculous when so many people rely on this excellent service, it’s a lifeline for a good many people having to go for treatment or visiting family and friends. How on earth are people supposed to get to the RUH? Not everyone can afford the luxury of a taxi. The government and local authorities couldn’t care less about Joe Public, they are only interested in saving money.

Once again, the Chamber of Commerce has not contacted the local shop owners in Corsham about the increasing problems they will encounter if the number 10 bus is discontinued. The majority of people don’t know about this. People won’t be doing their shopping locally as they won’t be able to afford taxis to go and get their shopping. Will they go online to shop? So once again the local shops will be hit badly and what if they close the local toilets, which is on the agenda.

We shall end up with so many awful health problems – bubonic plague and rats and vermin on the rampage because of the increasing problems with rubbish littered everywhere encouraging pests.

Is this the 21st century or are we going back to the dark ages. The mind boggles with disbelief. Why are people so ignorant and indifferent? I’m alright Jack is the attitude. What about the upheaval for our loyal dustmen, being taken over by Hills, what’s going to become of our loyal trusted refuse collectors? They do an excellent job of work, why mess up the system once again? Anything to save money.
