IT WOULD seem that us elderly are getting blamed for voting against The Range coming to Chippenham. I personally don’t remember being given the opportunity to vote one way or another. Perhaps I was on one of those extended holidays pensioners are always taking. I would however like to suggest that the photo accompanying your letter of the week showed a lack of pensioners and a surplus of younger folk.
If a democratic vote was however taken and The Range was voted against, then that should have been the end of the matter because obviously that is how democracy works.
However, in the same edition of your newspaper, there was a double page spread of Porte Marsh in Calne and when you also take into account the industrial development on the outskirts of Melksham, it is clear that the only way to attract industry to Chippenham, and keep what few businesses are here, is a similar industrial area on the A350 where The Range was going to be sited.
