IT IS very sad to hear The Range will not be coming to Chippenham.

I only hope that the people who were against it will live long enough to attend the funeral of Chippenham as a thriving town.

What with Asda turned away, now The Range, does this town deserve to flourish?

I would suggest all those who voted against it are retired or have full-time employment and had to find a mysterious Roman farm to stop this latest chance to improve Chippenham’s future.

The unemployed will not thank this minority of people, some with the loudest voices, having a vested interest financially in not seeing a somewhat large employer coming to rejuvenate a very tired town.

Could someone who knows where this Roman farm is take me there, as I worked just metres away from this area and have lived in the town some 30 years and have never heard about it.

There is talk of Lidl or Aldi coming to the Hungerdown Lane area, which is great, but it’s not long ago that people who have the future of the town in their hands were making it known they would not welcome this type of shop.

These people must learn that shopping has changed. People will judge those in charge of the future of the town so please look at any future large companies wanting to come here on the majority and not the minority opinion.

Is this the way our council works? If it’s too hot to handle drag it out so the company gets fed up of waiting and goes elsewhere, like the children’s skateboard park.
