WILTSHIRE Online (Wiltshire Council and BT) is trumpeting the success of its rollout of superfast broadband. However, we have been told that none of the postcodes in our village, Axford, is to be upgraded in phase 2 of the current broadband rollout and that there are no plans for doing so in the future.
We wish to register our frustration at this postcode lottery. Axford is a village only three miles from Marlborough with a population of around 170.
We cannot believe that we are in the most hard to reach five per cent of the population of the country or county for whom access to superfast broadband is to be denied.
Worse still, the current service has been deteriorating to well below 2 mbps and ever more frequent total outages, often for more than 24 hours.
We would like to raise your readers’ awareness of this issue as we are sure that most people in Axford, and similar villages, are under the false impression that they will soon be getting superfast broadband.
