Following the article in the September 24 Chippenham Gazette & Herald, Lidl is eyeing up vacant town site, clearly I was describing a very small shop like a convenience store with no car parking.
This is not the place for a supermarket. I’m convinced I did not say the word supermarket as quoted in the article –“That part of Chippenham lacks a resource, especially for people who are lacking in mobility. I am not suggesting the shop would overtake the housing, there would be a care home and market housing.”
In an area where roads are very busy, land is congested and there is a great deal of social housing we don't want any supermarkets touting where there are already two not far away.
A convenience shop is needed to allow residents within close walking distance to buy a newspaper, milk, bread and daily essentials. Not the weekly shop.
