As the three town council councillors representing Monkton Ward in Chippenham, we are very concerned to hear that Wiltshire Council intends to press ahead with plans for a skateboard park in Monkton Park, despite the recently reported flood risk, drainage and noise issues. Their intransigence seems all the more illogical given the additional cost implications of mitigating these issues, at a time when wide-ranging youth facilities and programmes are being cut back or shut down entirely.
Surely now is the time to reconsider less problematic and less costly alternative sites such as Bristol Road, with its many advantages, before further expense is incurred and extraction from this predicament becomes even harder?
