RUMOUR has it that Lord Morton is seeking to build 500 homes on a site south of the Dyson premises adjacent to Backbridge, Malmesbury. This will generate a large movement of cars in and out of the housing and Dyson sites.
The Tetbury road is already busy with traffic, I wonder how long it will be before it will be necessary to provide an exit for traffic onto the Backbridge road to Sherston and, worse still, to Sunset Hill via Brokenborough. Dyson is already two fields from this road.
The beautiful, unspoilt village of Brokenborough will become a rat run for traffic.
Neither James Dyson nor Lord Morton live here and the planners in Chippenham will care less for this prospect than they do for repairing the road.
I doubt the Dyson move from Chippenham has brought much prosperity to Malmesbury.
