BEING made a life peer in the House of Lords, Jane Scott leader of Wiltshire Council, has now received a consolation reward for services to the Tory party etc. This must be of small comfort to her when her aspiration of being a Conservative MP in her constituency did not materialise.

Your readers will recall before the last general election, an orchestrated campaign in the form of a stream of letters from her fellow senior North Wilts county councillors complaining about and trying to undermine the sitting MP. This was done in the hope that the existing MP would be deselected.

However, I look forward to hearing a public announcement from Jane Scott that the daily attendance fee of £300 plus expenses will be donated by her to the decimated social care budget done in the name of austerity.
