THE horror stories about fracking activities in the United States, recounted in Gazette & Herald letters page, bids fair to open a torrent of opposition from the people of UK, especially as the Prime Minster has said that such activities will be ‘rolled out in UK sites’ in spite of any opposition. So much for democracy then.

This seems to fly in the face of what was said by MPs prior to the general election. According to the letter, Chippenham’s MP speaking to a full house at Melksham Town Hall said that “there are no plans to frack in Wiltshire”. Whilst others report that they have in writing from James Grey MP that, “ there will be no fracking in Wiltshire”.

The stories recounted in the letter from the United States showing indisputable proof that this process is not fit to be tolerated in Wiltshire, or anywhere else in the UK for that matter.
