Would someone explain to me the opposition regarding the building of The Range.
The Civic Society are in opposition because of the Roman ruins.
I would think that Chippenham was built on them, are they going to demolish those properties?
Other items, Rolls Royce was aiming to build a factory at the Folly crossroads. Westinghouse was horrified, as they would lose all their top staff so the council turned it down. In the 1950s there was plenty of industry in town; besides Westinghouse there was Nestles, the Oxo factory, the bacon factories (three) and United Dairies. What industry have we now? None.
Do we want to finish up with a load of old ruins that wont bring any trade in?
So let them build The Range, and bring employment into the town.
