My husband and I were also shopping at Iceland at around Christmas time and spent roughly the same amount of money as Lord Lippiatt (Gazette letters, August 13).

We parked in the Iceland car park went and did our shopping in Iceland. When we came out we also had a parking ticket, but what was more annoying was that the man who issued the ticket watched us leave our car and put the disabled badges in the window, and said nothing to us whatsoever about having to pay for that car park. Yes there was a small notice, that indicated that disabled drivers had to pay but it was not clear and was overgrown by bushes from the building behind the wall. But unlike Lord Lippiatt he did not quash it on site, we had to do it at home on the internet using email and my husband scanned his disabled badge and sent it as an attachment.

The man who issued the ticket also stated that: "When the new Sainsbury’s opens in the town centre, disabled drivers will also have to pay for that car park.”
