I cannot find details of all the solar farm applications (and know there are time limits) in the Trowbridge catchment area but my understanding is this.

We have one farm stretching from the A350 (between Yarnbrook and Heywood) to Hawkeridge Road.

Planning permission has been given to the Poles Hole Farm development, Southwick.

Planning has been requested for Brook Hall Farm, North Bradley and I understand from a Wiltshire Times article we have another application for land between Southwick and North Bradley.

I have previously been told that perhaps I am in the “not in my back yard” brigade or not prepared to compromise for progress. I think now as a long-term resident of Trowbridge and living with the constant and intensive development of this area I am qualified to comment as everything is now in my back yard.

Are the Wiltshire planning officers looking at the situation as a whole or each individual application? The areas now being considered for solar farms are valuable pieces of countryside purely because they can be accessed easily and are used by local residents without the need to get in the car and go to special places.

Are they looking to create a solar farm valley?
