I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for everyone in Manton who has been so kind to me since my diagnosis with breast cancer. The kindness has been overwhelming and I feel so privileged to be surrounded by so many caring people in the village.

First of all, I would like to thank my son Martin and daughter-in-law Jo for all they have done and are doing for me and for Jo who persuaded me to get a mammogram at Savernake Hospital, which is how my cancer was discovered.

I would also like to thank Denise Grant, who lives in Manton High Street, who visits me every day and takes me to hospital. I don’t know what I would have done without her, she’s so considerate and has been an absolute treasure.

I want to thank those who are so kind and take my dog Toby out for a walk and say if I want anything done to just give them a call.

Special thanks also to Roger Grant and Alan and Sandra Clark and a massive big thank you to Mrs Davenport who lives in Avebury, who has been most generous and lovely to me.

My cancer has now been removed and I am so grateful for everyone’s kind words. I didn’t think there were so many kind and thoughtful people.

Mrs Pearl O'Connell, 73 Manton Close, Manton.
