THANK you to the Gazette & Herald for your excellent report on page 10 last week on the exploratory work ongoing about the relationship between Devizes Town Council and Roundway Parish Council.

Congratulations to Councillor Chris Callow as chairman of Roundway Parish Council for bravely taking the lead on this often mooted issue.

Indeed, as a previous member of Roundway Parish Council of a good many years, I have to compliment the transformation of the council from one that existed on a ‘proud’ record of doing in reality little constructive for its parishioners into a council that has come of age and now fights the corner for its parishioners extremely well. A pretty massive transformation.

Thank you to all involved, particularly Chris Callow for his leadership. Thank you also for having the courage to explore the future structure of the council.

Clearly the existing membership of Roundway Parish Council is united behind its chairman; so great credit to all the councillors.

As a previous member of Roundway Parish Council I also would like to single out Councillor Albert Wooldridge for the tireless work he has put in towards the council having its own allotments.
