Two reports about cuts were published last week. Taken singly, they are bad news; together they cause serious concern for Wiltshire.

The axing of the Connect2 hospital bus service shows that Wiltshire Council has run out of easy solutions and from now on the cuts will have to come from services that affect the most needy in society.

The second report comes from the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS), an independent, non-political think tank. Its analysis shows that the present coalition government plans to fill the hole in the public purse 98 per cent through spending cuts and two per cent through tax rises. We are half way through their planned cuts.

It might be sayonara to Connect 2 now, but what will we be waving goodbye to next? There is another way, but we need to wake up now to what is planned for our future, and vote against these cuts.
